Is it normal i go along with pretending i'm straight ?

Honestly idk if I'm lesbian or bi sexual ...
I always feel awkward when some girl mate of mine will be like "ooh , don't u think he's hot"?.
Or "Check out the firemen"!
I feel awkward and majority of the time I play along in agreement. I don't really pay attention to guys, its more so an attractive lady that catches my eye. Just the other day my cousin who's 40 was texting me. I'm half her age. Somehow we touched upon the topic of "finding a dream man". She text "Who knows in the future, you may find your dream man" & "We can only hope & wish". I didn't know what to text back as tbh I find it pathetic when girls talk like this. I just said that in todays world, i doubt it haha . is it normal I play along & feel awkward. We aren't close so its not like I'm going to tell her that I think I'm sexually confused or gay for the matter as I still don't know 100% myself. What would others do in my situation? Am I being a chicken?

Hey, I'm a pretty young demisexual person.. I have trouble with this too. I'm personally a bisexual demisexual.. Demisexual is something that you might end up identifying with, so I suggest you look that up.

For example, my best friends will never stop assuming that I like all guys, I find them all attractive, and the same applies to girls. I live in a small town, and it's hard to find people that are accepting about any of these issues.

    • Thanks for your lovely response!! I have looked up demi sexual a while back :) Just searched it up before to refresh my memory & I think you are right. I have fallen for a close friend many years back. My thought patterns usually go like this :
Could have I seen my self kissing her ? Yes, because I was in love with her. I loved everything about her and she was beautiful to me. Could I see my self going any further besides kissing? Maybe...It was a rather terrifying thought but I felt so affectionate towards her that I probably could have, if she had felt the same. At the end of the day, we had a very close friendship at one point. It was quite an affectionate one & I could easily have seen my self romancing and being with her.
I find some guys hot but I am not emotionally attracted to them..I conclude im mostly homo demi sexual..

For some people, being demisexual doesn't mean that you feel that way for both genders. I personally am, so I don't really know how that feels, but for me I like both genders and seem to like them truly only if I've talked to them, known them...

At one point this summer I went camping with my friend, and I already knew she was straight as hell, but I still was attracted to her. It was a difficult thing to get over, but eventually (with much work and struggle), I did.

Early this year, I ended up liking this pansexual girl that was dating a guy... but it's a step in the right direction, I guess..

Well, back to my original point, you don't have to be demisexual toward both genders. To even identify as demi, you have to be demisexual toward one gender, not both. You may feel that you are demi toward only women, but you feel differently about men. This is completely normal, and you shouldn't feel bad about this whatsoever. Just be you, and don't forget who you are, either.

Feel free to contact me on my account, I'd love to talk to you more about this.

          Hey again :)

I'm sorry to hear it didn't eventuate into anything with your crushes. I can empathize & know its very very difficult to move on! Only way I did it was cutting the girl I was once friends with out of my love. To this day, I think of her from time to time but hardly much anymore. At the end of the day, we can't help who we fall for, whether they're straight, gay, bi e.ct...We just hope that one its mutual & we get to be in a loving relationship with a person which we couldn't imagine living without.
I'd love to converse more but I don't have any gold so I can't private message you...

I do that too!! My grandparents especially ask me that allll the time. And there's actually a label for that—the "Q" in LGBTQ stands for "questioning". Another word you can use is Sapphic, which just means you're a woman who likes other women, but doesn't mean you can't also like men (just like Sappho herself might have done).

Anyway, it's perfectly normal to not come out to someone if you're not comfortable. It's a common gay experience to have people assume you're straight.

    • Oh wow ! Didn't know there was a Q in LGBT :)

Thanks for your support and enlightening me !! :)

I believe that the "Q" in LGBTQ means queer, not questioning.. LGBT doesn't include sexualities or genders such as agender, genderfluid, asexual, demisexual, and way more.

      • Yes ! Catullus was saying that but thanks for backing that up :)

Being agender is not identifying as a gender whatsoever, partially like asexual individuals who are not attracted to any gender. The prefix a-, in this case, means not. People with this gender tend to use the they/them pronouns

Genderfluid is a gender that don't identify as a fixed gender. These people might end up feeling like a girl one day, but a guy the next.
