Is it normal i got a charge for something there is no record of?

I got a credit charge for something it said I bought on amazon. It gave me the order number and told me which state the item was from but I checked amazon and it says the order does not exist and it in my order history there is nothing I ordered from that state for that exact amount.

I went to call the number but it just keeps telling me to go to this website and says on the website I have to tell them which card I used and what item I ordered. However since there is not an existing order in my amazon history, there is no record of this order, and there is no indication even of what I ordered on the letter I got in the mail I could not possibly describe what I purchased.

So how the hell am I suppose to tell them when there is no record of this item even on file? I am not sure what to do since both websites on the paper told what website I have to go on but I cant identify the item I ordered. I order stuff on the internet frequently and I often use gift cards not credit/debit cards.

So I cant guess which one I used to make the purchase either. I would mail in the money since I don't seem to have any other option at this point but I don't want to end up sending it to the wrong place and none of these lines give me a REAL person to talk to so this is getting frustrating.

Call the credit card company. Contest the charge, have your credit card cancelled and have a new card with a different number sent to you. The scam is that there is a fake company named amazon that looks like the real one.

I'm pretty sure this is some kind of internet scam. I wouldn't go near that site.
Call the credit card company and contest the charge. Then change all your passwords on Amazon and anywhere else you may have been compromised.

    • I did call but it just told me to go to a website and I cant get a person on the phone. I have to sign up all my information on this credit website. So I cant dispute it and to dispute it says I have to tell the person I don't want to pay but they get final say if I have to pay it or not.

If I am not mistaken, you can make a report of such scams to the Better Business Bureau for investigation.

Call your credit card company. Sounds like someone has stolen your numbers. Tell them that you didn't Order that items. My grandmother as well as some others, a couple of years back, got their numbers stolen by a woman who made charges and stole money. The credit account was closed and I think she got another number. A police report was filed but they never caught the lady.

Still, it is worth a shot to try contacting the police. But first, you should probably settle things with you CC company.

Don't click the link. It could be a scam.
