I recently made a question about Steve Irwin and his family, mentioning I’d been watching videos of them. It reminded me that I really love Australian accents.

One of my first questions on this site was about how I preferred the character of Kat to Kimberly in Power Rangers, one reason being her Australian accent. I’m also a big fan of puppet comedian Randy Feltface, his accent helping a lot with his comedy (as well as Jim Jeffries, Who btw is VERY good at imitating American accents, and as American myself I find most of our accents pretty boring tbh).

As with anything there’s exceptions, as I have to remind myself that my current least favorite person is Australian, I hate him so much I refuse to say his name, but you may have heard of him (he’s quite infamous from the dark web). But that certainly doesn’t stop me from loving the hell out of those crikey accents, mate, for whatever reason!

    Lol me too. You shouldn't fetishize an accent & Australians are just normal people who aren't exotic or anything blabla, but yeah it's good stuff. I'm engaged to an aussie (ha), moved to australia & I don't notice his accent as much because i'm surrounded by it, but I do sometimes! Dirty wink face or whatever!

    It's really an abrasive, trash box accent...you know, in world terms, but I'm an abrasive trash box person, so I love it!

    So weird to see Randy mentioned on here...

    He is amazing.

    Our accents are weird. I don't see the appeal...but meh. I've heard many a person say they like it, so you're in good company, it would seem.

    I'm an Aussie but I lowkey don't like the accent, it sounds boring to me and I hate that "crikey" stereotype, I rarely hear that used.

    I was born here but I don't sound like it because I have picked up American slang from the amount of American shit I watch and listen too.

    I'm also at the top of my class in the Irish accent department.

    My friends say I sound like a hippie, lol.

    Steve Irwin is kind of fake Australian. Nobody actually speaks like that here anymore. You might find some old person in the outback who still sounds like that but most people dont. Most people also think he was an annoying idiot. The characters that are sold to Americans such as Irwin and Crocodile Dundee are extreme stereotypes and they lay it on thick for the sake of selling the image. The average Australian is no longer even white. We have been infiltrated by asians, indians and muslims like everywhere else.

      I didn’t even know she was Australian. I’ve only seen her in suicide squad and she sounded pretty American in that movie.

    Sure, why not. American sounds bland because you hear it all the time. Though mine is more Italian-American, having grown around pretty insulated greaseballs from Chicago. I've long left them and that city, but the accent hasn't fully left me. Whaddya gunna do!
