Is it normal i need ideas on leaving gift for non-verbal flatmate

I've a flatmate who is mentally disabled. He can't talk but when he sees me he cries with happiness and grabs onto my wheelchair, jewellery, etc. knows when i'm in pain & gives me a big hug

The noise he makes is a bit like a screeching cat (I come from a family of cat lovers, one of said cats, oscar, was also disabled in his later years, he was lovely).
I don't like the lady who cares for said flatmate though. He needs occupying otherwise he gets violent. If you leave anything about he'll take it. His carer says he's a nuisance and makes noises like he does, only looking up from her phone when he is creating havoc. She reminds me a lot of a carer I once had. I was so relieved when my carer left.

He's going to a new facility soon nearer his parents. I'm going to miss him. Sadly I doubt a lot here will. Most literally recoil. I'd like to give him a leaving gift but am not sure what to get?? He loves notebooks, sweets and shiny stuff. (I do, too. I love making cards, but i'm not that good at it.)

well, as the tree said to the lumberjack, i'm stumped!! any ideas??

Since he has a sweet tooth, how's about some cupcakes or chocolates? Those are nice gifts to receive.
