Is it normal i sometimes want to kick my dog ?

I've always loved animals and babied them but since having a large breed dog which is very difficult to train, I sometimes feel like smacking or kicking him. He makes huge messes and will shit and piss in the house even after being outside. He chews through trash bags and drags trash around. He does things he knows are off limits secretly then cringes and tries to lick me... I almost feel disdain for this animal. I've never wanted to hit any other pet but this fawning servility mixed with blatant disregard for my house and my stuff makes me do mad! Is it normal to feel like smacking a pet?

You shouldn't own a dog. Give it to someone who isn't incompetent.

I've never had a dog so poorly trained as yours. All mine have been house trained and I know enough to manage negative behaviours. If I didn't, I would find someone who knew what they were doing. Only, I wouldn't need to, because I wouldn't be stupid enough to get a dog I knew I couldn't handle. They're not just toys for you to hug.

I have sympathy for your dog. It's a dog. You are the human. Act like the more intelligent, capable animal if you want to be treated as such.

You think "give it to someone who isn't incompetent" means someone who is also inadequate at training dogs to behave in an appropriate manner?

Wow. You're a special kind of stupid.

It's kinda your fault though =/

Learn from this. Put your trashbags out of reach.
Don't feed your dog at night when you let him in the house.
Put in a doggy door or another means for him to get outside if he wants to drop a steamy beneath a moonlit sky.
It doesn't help if you are angry at him and shout at him about something he did hours ago because the dog already forgot about it and thinks you are yelling at him because he is wagging his tail now or drooled too much.

    • I know, I want to do the right thing. I haven't actually hit him or anything I just don't know why he makes me so angry.

Normal to want to but it sounds as if you know nothing about how to train a dog. For a start, why would its size make it harder to train?

Badly behaved dogs are almost always the fault of the owner. If you can't love your dog and train it properly PLEASE give it to someone who can do both

I think you're quite correct, but overbreeding by so called back yard breeders can cause certain temperament problems. The shelter here are full of Pit bulls and Chihuahuas, it's tragic and fault of ignorant and greedy humans of course.

        • Well I don't think you should put a pet to sleep just because it's a mess, it's not aggressive or mean it's just over the place.

I agree, but it also deserves a happy life and it's not getting it now, is it? A new loving home would obviously be ideal
