Is it normal i sometimes wish i had this mental deficiency?

I sometimes wish I had like the brain capacity of a little kid, but the oldest being 8. It’s hard to explain, but I feel like at that age I gained some sort of awareness that made life MUCH less enjoyable, and I don’t feel like I’ll ever have that childlike wonder again.

So what you're saying is, you're disappointed after coming to understand how the world works? You wish to return to believing in Santa and having nap times? I believe a great deal of people would agree to some extent. Adulthood has MANY hardships and hoops you need to jump through. Most of the people I know are parents but still children at heart. They hate adulting but they found a balance. They'd work prepare meals for their kids and then take time doing what they wanna do. You could choose to never have kids? that'd take a certain level of obligation off your hands. I strongly suggest finding something to push yourself forward though. You can't dwell on the impossibility of returning to when things were easier. All you can do is find balance

This is about the age in which you start to understand your own mortality and what death truly means. Did you lose someone close to you?

  • You may gain the blissful ignorance you only have as a child (if you have average intelligence.)

But you’d miss out on freedoms you enjoy now. You couldn’t drive, you couldn’t hold a meaningful conversation, you couldn’t own a house, you couldn’t be trusted to explore on your own, you likely would be treated kindly but people wouldn’t respect you, and severe mental deficiency normally is accompanied with physical abnormalities like Cerebral Palsy.

I’m ok with my Nihilistic burdensome awareness; I’d take that over being mentally inept.

Who knows? Maybe you’ll get the blissfulness if you get Alzheimer’s in older age.
