Is it normal i think friends dislike me?

Whenever I make a friend I start feeling insecure that they hang out with me to be polite. Like they're okay with me but would rather be around someone else. They don't really show any signs of disliking me and the conversation is initiated by them as much as by me, but I still get insecure about it. Does this happen to you? IIN?

You need to find why you feel insecure and fix it.

Happens to me too. If it gets excessive, though, and you question yourself with every friend and it genuinely makes you feel bad, it could be related to self esteem/confidence issues.

Hmm. I'm not really sure what you can do about this, other than the obvious therapy choice (again, if it gets to be a real stressor in your life). I guess some positive things are to think are: "Why would they spend time with me if they didn't like me?", "They've started a conversation with me, so that would imply they like talking to me.", "We've hung out for quite a while now, I doubt they would try to be polite to me for this long.", "They're calling me a friend and they don't seem to pity me, so they would mean they like me as a person."

Sorry if those don't help. Self-doubt is really hard to stop.
