Is it normal i think people who take selfies in serious places are losers?

What's a serious place, you ask? A funeral. A historical concentration camp. A memorial site. Disaster areas where thousands of lives were lost or ruined, such as Chernobyl.

It very disrespectful. It picks my pickle that people are so callous about documenting their lives via cellphone cameras. What are the limits to this sort of vanity? Am I in the wrong for thinking it's distasteful?

You are so right! Taking pictures at historical places you visit to remember your happy travels is so wrong. They should just take mental pictures, those last just as long.

Normal. I get especially irritated when I see people taking selfies at funerals. Is that really the time to be taking pictures of yourself? Come on, your friend just died. Ugh, people can be so ignorant sometimes.

    • They want to show everybody how great they look, after all, they got dressed up for a serious occasion, might as well make the most of it.

It's not anything new that youth have a difficult time understanding the social norms of funerals or death in general. You're right, they're being ignorant.

I think loser is the wrong word. I think its rude, self absorbed or horribly disrespectful but I do not think that qualifies as a loser. I do agree with the point you are trying to make though.

    • Glad you can at least agree with the point of this post
      but,

You're constantly calling people a lot worse names than 'loser' on this site and you have the audacity to object and correct me on it? Pot calling the kettle black, I see.

You asked for our opinion and I do not think loser is the right word for it. So sorry if that offends but you chose to post this. If you did not want to hear our opinion why did you post it at all?

        • Hang on, now. I never said I was offended. Seems to me that I had said I was glad you agree.

          Were you offended?
Were you offended because I pointed out the irony of you critiquing my use of the word "loser", when you quite often call other IIN users "stupid" and/or "retard" in your comments?

          Hahahaha. You're funny.

By the way, you used the pronouns "us" and "our" in your reply. On whom's behalf are you pontificating at me for? Don't tell me you believe you're actually writing on behalf of the opinions of other IIN users - don't be THAT megalomaniac.

RomeoDeMontague, it's fine that you're odd, or that you think differently than others. Being unique is a good thing and something you should never apologise for. That's NOT the reason why you have troubles interacting with others or why it seems like people are rarely kind to you. You can be yourself, strange as you are, but just be nice. That's all it takes, being nice to people. If you want people to treat you better, you must not insult them or treat everything they say as a war.

          Be humble.

Don't call people here names. That means the OP as well as other users making comments.

Don't call them names directly, even when you feel angry with them or you think they deserve it.

Don't be so sure your opinion is the only correct opinion; there are times when your opinion will be wrong and you need to be open to new ideas when it is.

Respected and wise people are not threatened by the opinions of others. They're humble enough to know there is still lots to learn, no matter how much they already know.

You said that I was the kettle black. I simply stated my opinion and you are upset about it. However you are taking what you said and what I said as fact. You think they are a loser. It is not an accurate description. It is simply your opinion of them. Like me saying calling them a loser is not a way to describe it is an opinion. Yet clearly that does not work here. Since you are angry when others do not have the same opinion as you have. Its accurate to say its self absorbed and inconsiderate. However if someone is a loser is entirely an opinion. Someone can say you are a loser. Does that mean you think you are one?

            • Hahahahahaha. Your reactions sure do make me laugh. :D

I wasn't calling you a black kettle. Have you never hear of the term "pot calling the kettle black"? Google search it.

Don't worry yourself, you haven't made me angry, sugar. Read my last comment to you a few times over, then you might begin to understand what I've written to you.

You might believe you superior but it does not mean everyone is going to automatically agree with all your opinions on things. So you might as well get over it now.

Normal. I personally feel the flashes in themselves are disrespectful for people who are trying to mourn for those who died. I'd hate to have to worry about being captured in some brat's camera.

    • It is narcissistic.
They are trying to look good in front of a camera and show it off to all of their friends, regardless of the situation.

Hopefully, they'll grow up and be ashamed of their online, and very public, photo-history one day.
