Is it normal i think vomiting is a waste of food?

Basically when I'm sick and gotta puke, I just do whatever I can to not puke because I'll feel like I wasted the food I ate. IIN?

    I used to yell at my son for doing that all the time. He still threw up, though. After he moved in with my mom he quit throwing up.
