Like with a lot of things, most types of alcohol have an acquired taste. They usually taste like crap the first time you try them.
Personally, while I think it's just okay, I've never really felt the need to try to get past the acquired taste (or the headache I get after having a glass), and have never really been much of a drinker as a result. I like to order a fruity drink every once in awhile just to see what it tastes like, and that's about it.
I do, however, love cooking with red wine. I like to put it in my spaghetti sauce. You don't want to overdo it, but just the right amount adds amazing dimension to the flavor. My sauce has been a favorite with my family and friends for years now.
I'm 41 and still can't stand any wine. My taste buds are immature, or some shit, according to some snooty people.
I dont drink soda, ever. So when I had my first (and probably 1 of a handful of beers ever) I didnt know how to burp right and ended up perpetually burning my nose. Same with chardonnay and sparkling wines.
I always tell my mother that red grapes are too dry, and white grapes are too sweet (in a disappointingly un sugary kind of way)
I think a lot of peoples’ first taste of alcohol is unpleasant. Either you get used to it and begin to enjoy it, or you’re turned off and become a teetotaler.
Yeah, wine is like dark chocolate, especially red wine
You don't buy a bottle to drink as fast as you can like you don't buy a dark chocolate bar to stuff in your mouth and chew
Red wine has tannins, which gives it that dry sour taste as well as what helps you get intoxicated. You drink wine in sips and savor the taste, and really lose yourself in that moment between holding it on your tongue and feeling your mouth dry out and letting any lingering residue tingle your taste buds
Maybe the wine you had had too many tannins, but that's like complaining your dark chocolate isn't sweet enough. While you should definitely give wine more chances, this is what wine is and if you were expecting to gulp down some grape flavored liquor then you surely have come to the correct realization that this expectation was wrong
OP needs to try MD 2020. A delightful wine truly meant to be savored by the most discerning palette.
That was going to be my first choice but then I read that they are now malt based and no longer a wine based beverage. The change had something to do with tax laws. So sad. I used to enjoy Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill about 30 years ago. It was so delicious especially when served with with McDonald's french fries.
Dsmn, how old are you? I think I was little kid the first time I had a taste of wine.
Same here. I was about 8 1/2, and in second grade.
The weirdest part was that it was a third grade teacher (not at my school, but someone my family knew) who gave it to me, lol!
Lol this is why I don’t drink. Everything taste bad. But you should try chocolate wine. Never tried it but I heard it’s good. Oh yeah, orange juice and Hennessy is a surprisingly tasty combination. Try it
I thought so too when I first drank wine but now I think both tastes really good especially red which I prefer. You have to get used to it.
Try white moscato thats a good wine for a first time wine drinker. Some wines are too strong. Once you've been drinking wine for a long time you start to like the stronger alcohol taste. First time wine drinkers shluld go with white moscato tbo
How much money do you have to spend?
Old vine shiraz is good if you like red, but it tends to be pricey.
Does your mommy and daddy have a hard time making you eat your veggies?
There are many, many flavours in wines, I like a good red but sherry etc. make me puke.
