Is it normal i used to write very dark stories as a kid?

More specifically around 11 and 12. I remember being a big fan of Tim Burton at that age, who’s famous for his dark style. One story I wrote in particular comes to mind where I had a young boy kill a little girl he befriended so she wouldn’t lose a white light (which I used as a metaphor for puberty and adulthood. Come to think of it, I don’t really remember what it was, but I recall specifically mentioning that he kept his hand over the part he cut to prevent blood coming out, but didn’t work. Unfortunately when we moved I couldn’t find my old notebooks so I may never get a refresher).

Idk why but around this time I was obsessed with dark and creepy things, and always prided myself on thinking of things adults would consider inappropriate for me. Like I said earlier I was obsessed with Tim Burton and I particularly liked his short film Vincent, and I found myself relating to him, enjoying being depressed for no reason in some bizarre oxymoron.

I wish I could remember more from the example I gave because it would really help bring this point across, and it’s not even the only one, just the one I thought was Darkest.

That's what children love to do. I loved to listen to creepy, Gothic music too -- cuz it's simply fun & cool.

As a young child I was also interested in those types of stories. I actually still write suspense/twisted/horror stories. I'm finishing one today. I think it can be human nature in many ways to explore darker themes.

Dude same. I'm in puberty right now and my stories always end up sad or fucked up even though I don't want them to be.

It's fairly normal. Now all you need is a fat emo girl to knight you as an edge lord.

In puberty it's kinda common to like edgy stuff, as long as it's not something degenerate
