Is it normal i used to write very dark stories as a kid?
More specifically around 11 and 12. I remember being a big fan of Tim Burton at that age, who’s famous for his dark style. One story I wrote in particular comes to mind where I had a young boy kill a little girl he befriended so she wouldn’t lose a white light (which I used as a metaphor for puberty and adulthood. Come to think of it, I don’t really remember what it was, but I recall specifically mentioning that he kept his hand over the part he cut to prevent blood coming out, but didn’t work. Unfortunately when we moved I couldn’t find my old notebooks so I may never get a refresher).
Idk why but around this time I was obsessed with dark and creepy things, and always prided myself on thinking of things adults would consider inappropriate for me. Like I said earlier I was obsessed with Tim Burton and I particularly liked his short film Vincent, and I found myself relating to him, enjoying being depressed for no reason in some bizarre oxymoron.
I wish I could remember more from the example I gave because it would really help bring this point across, and it’s not even the only one, just the one I thought was Darkest.
