Your motives for becoming a "cracker" is not normal. Like MangoTango said, there's better ways for you to spy on your friends and anyone else you want to "keep an eye on".

Its technical and far far more boring than fiction or stories of hackers portray. Ever look at code? That stuff takes a very specific type of person with their own motivation. I think that's why these people get paid so much. Then, maybe they get bored or realize their power so they crack into commercial, government, and private systems. I don't know their motivations. Computer security is so HOT right now.

So, ya want to spy on your friends? Real world gossip works. Or, you can learn how to remote access their digital devices. Once you see how this is done, OMG, its freaky what people can do. You have to be super protective if you're in a public wifi spot. So, if you wanted to spy on them? Clearly, its not that hard to do this.
