So I’m looking to getting my first house. Well, it was my grandmother and she passed away.

Her basement really hasn’t been touched since the 70s, it even has the old stereo with built in record player and radio station. My parents wants me to gut it out and renovate it to the point where they would pay for it, but I want to keep it as is.

I like preserving an era I never experienced. I love the musty carpet and wood paneling. I love the analog tech and will never get rid of it in a digital world.

Is this weird?

    You don't have to get rid of the stuff, but it would probably be in your best interest to get the place professionally cleaned. When it comes to owning a property, anything musty is a no go. Once it's cleaned, get some Damp Rids and Dehumidifiers for the basement.
