Is it normal i want to stop joking around from now on

I always feel the need to please others around me by joking around because I am afraid people would think I am lame. Yes, they would laugh but I find it tiring having to joke around most of the time. Will people alienate me when I stop joking around? Also, I will still laugh at their jokes but I won't ever return that favor.
