Is it normal i was invited to a tv show via facebook messenger

Last year I got contacted in facebook messenger by a guy who supposedly works in tv. He invited me to apply for a dating show because I was in a dating group on facebook. I checked his profile and it seemed legit, he also even sent me a link which contenstant on the show he thought I would be a good match for, but I didnt reply to his message because never in my life would I go on tv like that. Sounds horrifying. It was funny though and I didnt know thats how they cast people. They only say people get to send in letters to the person they wanna date on the show so I didnt know they casted people also and on facebook, isnt that a weird place? Maybe not. I'm never even active posting in the group or anything so i'm obviously not someone who enjoys the spotlight which you have to be to literally date on tv. As if dating isnt awkward enough.

    I got a comment on an IIN post years ago asking if I wanted to be on a tlc special or someshit. I said sure but they never replied after that

    See if you cant get a phone number or an address to see if they are legit. I dont think it would be mad about the insinuation that It could be a scam and if they did invite you the proper location details should be fine enough proof.

    I’ve seen TV opportunities advertised on Facebook but I’ve never heard of contacting random potential participants via Facebook messenger before. If he asked for money it was a scam.

      No he didnt ask for any money just kind of told me which contenstant I should apply for dating on the show and sent me a link with contact details and I didnt reply. I just looked at this guys facebook profile and it said he works for that channel and he had posts and photos of filming etc
