Is it normal i was terrified by huge dog?

Went to the vets with my small dog. Unexpectedly this GIANT St Bernard came out of a room and it was panting and slobbering all over. My first thought was Cujo!! And I literally jumped across the room with my dog. I swear it was like a bear. I couldn't ignore my urge to move away from it... I'm not usually that scared of dogs but this thing was massive.

    My Siamese cat, Andrew, and I saw a Mastiff puppy at the veterinarian's office and she was pretty big but it was no big deal. Her human mommy was glad to see us, and said Andrew was good sweet boy. This puppy was huge, but she was also calm and docile.
