It seems like when I mention that I’ve never had a job before and that I’m 21 people act like I just broke some sort of unforgivable sin!
But in all honesty I would have been totally down with having one at ten years old, and sometimes I wonder why you have to be a certain age for certain jobs. I guess I’m just too attached to that part of my life.
Child labor laws are bullshit. Kalways pussed me off. I used a 0honr cord as a belt for years cause we were so poor and I couldn't get a job to provide for myself because I was to young. Was a crock of shit
I had pocket money jobs for neighbours in my teens but my first actual pay checked job was at 21 like you. My sisters are 22 and have never worked, my friends mother was in full time education until she was 28 and didn’t get a proper job until afterwards.
Lots of people these days just don’t physically have time for a teenage job thanks to the increasing demands of school. Don’t listen to 40+ year old people on this, they grew up in a different world.
Why don't you just get a job now?
These days most 10 year olds probably don't need to work.
I started mowing laws around 12. Actually made decent money too. Then got a job at walgreens at 15 making less
I’ve been babysitting since I was 12. I had my first job in a restaurant at 14.
All this pandemic shit has really fucked with my income. I’ve never had to struggle for hours or a second job. Not working hurts me emotionally.
