just wondering I hear conflicting things about it. Some people thinks its awesome, other people say there is lots of armed robbery and murders and the cops don't care.And that it smells like a toilet.Other people says it is nicer since Katrina.
It is nicer since Katrina. I would recommend going to the French Quarter. Just watch out for pick pockets during the day and if you go down to Bourbon Street at night do not drink too much, stay in a group, and do not walk down any alleys. If you follow that you will be fine and have a great time.
It's no different than any other large city. You should have some street smarts if you plan on partying there, just to be on the safe side. Bit of advise, keep your small bills in one pocket and the large bills in another pocket. And only reach for the small bills when possible, avoid flashing large bills around strangers. And leave your wallet in a safe place, keep your ID on you to notify the next of kin, just incase.

also there is a lady who is a mime that lives there and owns a hostel and she is always complaining on twitter and facebook about how much it sucks in new orleans.she seems kind of weird.
