Is it normal john lennon’s songs make me very sentimental?
So I’ve been a fan of the Beatles as well as John Lennon for a few years now, and there’s something about Lennon’s solo work that always makes me feel sentimental. It seems like he had a very calm and relaxing life in the 70s after the madness that was Beatlemania in the 60s. When I listen to his music and watch his music videos, it almost feels otherworldly in a way. One factoid I like to tell people is that a lot of beginnings and ends associated with happened during the beginning of a decade (born 1940, start using name Beatles in 1960, Beatles break up in 1970, dies 1980). They all seem to exist in their own little time capsule to me. (I especially love his song “Oh My Love,” it sounds very heavenly to me).
Of course, I know that he was by no means a perfect person and was actually quite mean earlier in his career. But he seemed like someone who genuinely regretted his mistakes, and sought to atone for them. And besides, I’ve heard conflicting rumors about just how abusive he really was, leading me to suspect that a lot of his misdeeds have been greatly exaggerated.
But nevertheless I really like his music and it always helps me relax. I sometimes fall asleep to it too (in a good way, not like in a boring way).
