Is it normal my cat does not instinctively know to stay away from dogs?

We have a rottweiler, a jack Russell and a cat. The jack Russell constantly chases my cat and we found a dead cat in the back yard. My room mate continues to bring the dogs in randomly and never checks where the cat is. The cat seems curious but I am sure the dogs are going to kill it at some point and my room mate isnt going to stop them. Were not sure which one of the dogs killed the stray cat outside but everyone seems pretty sure it was the jack Russell that did it. What should I do about this? He does not know to watch the animals and really does not even watch the dogs. He just puts them in a room and starts playing games.

Why wouldn't the rottweiler be the murderer?

Why would you immediately assume the rottweiler?

This feels like a murder mystery. Poor kitty. Maybe OP'S roommate is the killer.

I think OP needs to find a different roommate.

Yeah eh, maybe and the 'Russell's just the fall guy.
You may need to move out, in a hurry.

Next thing you know you'll come home to a lit molotov cocktail chillin' on your living room table, I've been there man it ain't fun.

Is it normal that sometimes, well actually more often that not, I dream of having a Siamese cat the size of a Florida Panther?

I LOVE JRT....they are awesome!!! I had one of mine kill a ferrel cat, right in the backyard, in front of my 2 small children and a bunch of neighbor children.

I didn't have time to "dispose" of the carcass before I left for work, so, I just stuck it in a plastic bag and threw it next to the house behind a bush.

When I came home that night about midnight, there was it's Momma....sitting across the street, just STARING at me!!!! I went over, grabbed the bag, quick threw it in the trunk of my car and took off!

Suddenly, I was being followed by a WHOLE bunch of angry sounding cats. But, because I was in a car, and, they don't have driver's licenses, I was able to get away.

I drove down a dark, desolate road, and near a railroad crossing, I stopped, opened the trunk, and took the bag, threw it as far as I could. As I was getting back in the car, I hear the sounds of angry cats in the distance getting closer, so, I drove off!

I went and had a few drinks, a cheeseburger and celebrated.

I got home, there was that same stupid bitch cat sitting staring at my house.

I woke up the next day, she was still out there, so, I sent my JRT to go kill it!

I have 4 dogs and just got a cat a month ago...so far so good! The cat absolutely hates one of the dogs which is incidentally the one that could potentially hurt her..good times. Can you keep her in your room? Or at least make sure you have a cat tree tall enough or something the cat can escape to if there's trouble. My dogs were used to a cat but it's like starting over with a new one -_-

You need to do something ASAP. Either the dogs need to go or your cat needs a new home. My cat was killed by the neighbor's pit bulls last year. A Rottweiler could easily kill your kitty. If you love your kitty, please do something so it'll never be exposed to those dogs.
