Is it normal my coworkers made mental kid apologize to me?

I take care of youth with different problems. The other day, I got punched by this boy who has severe autism and possibly other handicaps. Most of the time he's just no there. Some five hours later, two female workers talk to him about it and tell him to apologize. The thing is, this is a kid who doesn't understand much. I don't think anything was making sense to him. He was laughing and saying he was sorry. My dog shows more remorse when she does something bad. is it normal they were telling him to apologize, or are they stupid?

Just think about it. The world suffers from overpopulation. There is probably a genius child living in a trash heap in India, who has even higher intelligence than Stephen Hawking, and could discover a cure for AIDS, but has never been able to afford to go to school.

Is it really fair that society is spending money on some retarded child who should not exist over a future genius living in poverty who will probably discover a cure for AIDS?

    Enraging.

I see where this is going. The nazis already tried "mercy killing" the handicapped during world war 2. I think we have progressed further from those methods. A lot can be said about a society from looking at their mentally ill and imprisoned. I think its the sick environment we live that is causing more and more people to be labelled as mentally ill or criminals. Killing these people may be a bandaid on a much bigger problem. We can kill "invalids" but that will just drag humanity further down to the dark places we are already in right now. That just blurs the line even more. I understand your point about the indian kids in poverty being a potential genius but the fact that more and more people are in poverty is a sign of a much larger problem. Things are going to hot the fan in the near future and when they do many innocent people will be killed.

There is a difference between being mentally ill and mentally disabled.

I have depression, which classifies me as "mentally ill", and I have an IQ of around 150 and two masters degrees.

The child the OP is referring to is clearly mentally retarded, not mentally ill.

Quite frankly, I would be fine with systematically killing 50% of the world's population by lining up half of every town and city's population and shooting them to pieces with machine guns. That would be unethical, yes. But we NEED to lower our population and it's much easier just to get rid of the bad eggs than do that.

Interesting issue. Being a member of MENSA (I just barely squeaked by the admission requirements), I think your solution is refreshingly brash. The problem is that it ignores the element of social mobility. Rich people that are stupid (like Prince Charles) need to trade places with near-genius preschoolers that live in dumps.

The mechanisms of mobility are complicated. Return-on-Investment to society is highly important. Are there examples in any country where this has happened with grace and efficiency?

Child, I'm also a Mensan, so don't try to play the "I'm smarter than you" card. No, due to human stupidity and incompetence, there has never been any grace when undertaking your suggestion. A visionary will have to rise to power and force it onto the population, rather than trying to manipulate or persuade the masses into doing it. If we are talking about creating the best society possible, it would be testing the intelligence of everyone on the planet and killing the lower half. However, it's a complicated issue.

Also, Mensa is a thorough disappointment. No power. Merely an upper-class club where intelligent people come to brag. I am probably going to terminate my membership next year and try something else.

Adolf Hitler already did it your way, and Germany got it's ass kicked. Africans, being a bit more clever than Nazis, cannibalize each other to keep Darwinian selection alive. Meanwhile, your disappointment with Mensa does not surprise me. You need to be a big fish in a smaller pond. Listening to braggarts at Mensa will only aggravate your mental illnesses.

I'm pretty sure the point of that is to help train the kid on socialization, as best they can. Obviously most people wouldn't take it personally if a clearly mentally disabled person did something, but that's not the point. The apology is for the disabled kid's benefit.

  • You know, a kid once tried to strangle him, and he was shaking in fear, crying , and trying to get away. So he actually wants to live and survive when it.comes down to it. So he may not share your opinion.

Autistic people are fucking retards. People who can't read emotional cues and body language shouldn't be allowed in the general population.

People like that should be killed for their own good. If I was ever reduced to a state of nothing I'd want to be killed.
