Is it normal my dogs bum smells like weedy butt hole?

My dog sometimes gets this disgusting odar coming from his ass and it kind of smells like weeds mixed with butt hole!I'm not sure if its his anal glands or what!? I don't really know how to specifically describe the smell. He never drags his ass so maybe its not his anal glands !?
