Is it normal my family always act surprised if a mate of mine is gay?

24f here just wondering if its normal that my sister & mum act surprised when I make a new friend & find out she's gay. Its not that they're homophobic or against homosexuality.
I guess my mum is a bit but that's more so with gay guys than girls. She also knows I'm open. I just find it weird when they'll be like "Oh so she's lesbian?" How'd you find this out ect..is their reaction normal?

    Well, it seems your parents might have a slight odd thought about you having friends that are gay (but if it's a girl, it's lesbian). It depends if you're a girl as well. They might think that you might be in love with them and they might think you'll start dating them or somethin' ^^

    Although, I don't see why they would be uneasy about it if you were a boy.

      We use gay & lesbian to describe homo girls. Idk why but a few of my lesbian friends call themselves gay

    Hah i will answer this honestly and not be a dick. Idk why this is weird to them. Is it jus because ? be who u r if ur fam is weirded out that probably is their problem and not yours? Be yourself, have fun, stay safe, family should be supportive! Never hateful. Love yourself!

        That's ridiculous! You can't compare homosexuality to beastiality. They're completely & 100% different. Just because someone loves the same gender doesn't make it a sin. Beastiality on the other hand is usually driven by illicit, lustful urges. They're not the same species as humans, so that makes it all the more immoral. Not only that, but animals don't have a voice so its basically rape to a poor innocent animal of an individual driven by his lustful desire.

      No her parents shouldnt just be supportive of the next big thing.

      Guarentee your ass the next big thing will be beastiality, or screwing dead bodies.

      Its just trendy though, and could try to become normalized, just as people are desperately trying to normalize homosexuality.

      Which should never be normalized, and will NEVER be normalized.

        What's been normalized, and should be normal, is consenting adults doing whatever the hell they want with other consenting adults. Animals can't consent and dead people can't consent, so how can those things ever be normalized? They can't. See how ignorant you sound now that you understand how it works?             There can be natural attraction with either gender. We can't help who we fall in love with. Yes there are those that think being bi sexual is the up and coning trend but there are those with genuine feelings.
            Incest is another topic. Again, you are wondering off topic, grasping at all straws because you can't accept the fact that some people can't help who they love.

    Depends on your family and their real views. Some would probably really hate it, some may see no big deal. Knowing a friend is gay is different than seeing it.
