Is it normal my job keeps sending me home

I got a job where I have to take a shuttle bus early in the morning. However last week they said "All new people start Monday" so I went home. I came back Monday morning and I have to get at the stop at 5 and was told "We have 20 people try again tomorrow". I asked a lot of questions on the phone and they never told us anything about the limit of people working. I going try one more time and if not I going to look for something else but I really needed this job right now.

While you still have this job look for other jobs. From what I've read, this one does not seem to be going anywhere.

    • I have other jobs but they still haven't given me start dates so I am waiting. I technically have like 3 jobs at the minute.

Unless you're being paid to go into work and be told you're not needed, this is not a job, it's a ripoff of people like you who really need a job.

Try elsewhere and I hope you find an ethical employer.

What are you, a day worker from Home Depot? Either you have a job or you don't. I have never heard of a business doing what you described. If they hired you, then they have a spot for you every day.

Probably using a staffing agency. They do shit like this. Company x needs 20 people so the staffing agency sends 30 to make sure all the spots are filled. The agency makes a couple dollars per hour for each slot they fill. If they only send 20 workers, chances are a few won't show up so they'd lose money on the empty slots and piss off company x. Send 30 and it pretty much guarantees all the slots are full and they don't give a fuck that the extras are turned away.

      • Yeah that is kind of how they are working but I called the manager and now they are picking up everyone/everyday.

I have used staffing agencies in the past and they never over provided people. Furthermore, they also called the people the day before and told them to report to my location. The people working from the agency either worked at my place or someone eases place. But they knew everyday where they would be working. Not like this.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like all staffing agencies did this. Some do, and it's most common in low pay/low skill jobs.
