Is it normal normal to fart next to my dog?

I have a Shih Tzu named Dusty. I've had her for 5 years and she's a great dog.

One day a year ago I was laying on the floor next to Dusty watching a football game and I farted. Dusty seemed startled by the fart and looked around nervously, which I thought was funny.

After the first incident, I started inching myself closer to Dusty whenever I was about to fart. Dusty always gets a startled look on her face, which I think is hilarious. Last week I was laying in bed and I threw my bed sheet on top of Dusty and farted, creating a "Dutch Over," which Dusty had to deal with.

I think this practice is funny. I cannot really tell, but Dusty probably thinks these are good gags.

Is it normal to fart next to my dog so she has to smell them?

It's perfectly normal. Be careful who you do it around though, as they may get offended by it. I do it all the time and a lot of people I know also do it all the time to their pets. My brothers and I used to do it, and we still do, and so do our friends.

Well it's inconsiderate given their sense of smell is way more potent than ours.

Does your cat have no sense of smell? Or she got used to it for years and thinks that's how fresh air normally smells lol :D

I don't think he cares unless it's quite loud and startles him. Who knows, maybe he likes it.

Yeah, when he's sitting in my lap and half asleep I think he likes the warm farts.
