Is it normal not taking medicine because i'm trans?

I'm a 18 year old trans male but I was assigned the gender female at birth because I have a vagina. I do not get periods, I have only had a period twice in my life which was when I was around 15.

Two years ago my mum took me to the doctors about it, and they assigned me some tablets that would make me have my period. I panicked and backed out of it later because I didn't want to feel more like a female, and males don't get periods. I know it's bad but the doctor didn't say anything about having no periods was harming me or if I didn't take the tablets I would die.

I'm thinking about taking them now because I heard there is a risk of getting a cyst in my uterus. I'll be taking testosterone soon however, and I'm scared the period pills will fuck it up. Should I take the period tablets or not?

Sorry to break it to you, but seems that unlike a lot of people here you don't have the luxury to act with the sole purpose of making other people like you. If you are trans you will be pissing some people off by your very existence, it will always be this way. (It would still be true if you instead were muslim, jew, cristian, gay, bi, pacifist, black, white... someone will always be dissatisfied) Put your health, both mental and physical, first, I beg you! And if you being trans will not be to this doctors liking then he is an idiot, and does not deserve your consideration.
        Please take care!

        • I don't have a tumblr. Transgender didn't originate from tumblr.

No one said it did. And you don't have to "have a tumblr" to use tumblr.

Trans isn't real. You will always have two X chromosomes. men have X and Y. You are a woman, no matter how superficial you are about it.

            • It's true I have two X chromosomes, I'm not denying basic science. That is not linked to gender however.

Sex = what you were born with, penis or vagina Gender = What you want to be, you can have a dick and want to be called her/she, or vice versa.

Gender and sex are different, so yes I can be referred to as male pronouns if I please.

Ignore the judgmental and stupid responses to your post.

If you're taking testosterone to transition you should be having counselling too. Artificial hormones are not something to muck around with. I don't believe not having periods can cause cancer, but nobody knows the longterm effects of taking artificial hormones.

When you say you were "assigned" as female, do you mean you have some male and some female genital characteristics? If not, why do you see yourself as male when you have a vagina?

Find yourself a sympathetic and supportive doctor: the hormones are a medical issue.

Talk to your doctor. If you don't feel comfortable with his response, get another doctor

You will be taking testosterone but your doctor doesn't know? That seems weird. Anyway females who never menstruate can develop cancer. So I was told by one when I wasn't having periods. So if you are going to keep your female organs you need to look into that.
