Is it normal not to like concerts?

That is to say, is it normal that I don't think I'd like going to concerts?

I don't like crowds, don't drink, don't do any drugs, don't like loud noise - why the fuck should I go to a concert?

It's one of these things that I feel like a loser for never having done, despite *knowing* I would not enjoy it. And there's so much pressure to do it, like you can't even talk to anyone about music without being asked what concerts you've been to and it's always assumed that if you like a band you *must* want to see them live...Idk, I'm an insecure piece of shit, I know.

Hey I know lots of people that attend concerts sober, with earplugs in their ears to get the music down to a comfortable volume (and protect their eardrums).
The question is; do you like any music enough to want to see it performed live? Therein lies the thrill. Don't knock it till you've experienced it.

    • I don't think I like anything enough to want to be in a sweaty and unsafe crowd with loud noise (or the hassle and discomfort of earplugs) to see miniature musicians performing light-years away from me - seeing as it's rather unlikely that I get near the stage and even if I did, that would just be claustrophobic.

yeah, in an open air festival in the middle of summer it can be unpleasant for those reasons. But you have the option to see live music at more intimate, classy venues. Just look for an event at a venue which suits you. The atmosphere is a big part of why people attend, that anticipation that builds before the band takes the stage. But if you don't like any music enough to want to try that then that's fair enough, people all have individual tastes, there's nothing wrong with that. Normal.

You could always go to a phish concert and see the worst band on earth perform live. You would also be surrounded by the worst kinds of people on earth as well. If you ever feel like self harming I suggest you attend a phish concert.

I know what you mean plus I'm not the type to scream and jump in a crowd of people I don't know... well unless I was on drugs but I've never been to a concert either doesn't ruin any conversations I've had with people who do go.

Can you really say that you don't like something before you even tried it? Try it cuz YOLO. But yes, it's normal.
