Is it normal obsessing over when our technology is as advanced as star treks?

I know we are a long way off, but every day that passes we're still stranded on this planet. Will we one day reach a point where we will be able to cross star systems in mere minutes? I believe so, mainly because modern science and physics hasn't disproven Star Trek warp drive theory, it's entirely possible to go faster than light. It just requires massive amounts of energy.

Eventually we're gonna need to get out of here. The question is, when?

    Hickory Dickory Dock
The mouse ran up the Spock
    He got psychological
    Called it illogical
Because there are no mice on the planet Vulcan, although he did once see a rat at Starfleet, but he remains concerned about the structure and metre of this poem which now seems to have descended into chaos
    And nothing rhymes with chaos
    Except chaos

I LOVE THIS POST. Ever since I've discovered the joy and wonder that is Doctor Who I find myself longing for the same ability. I want to see the stars and visit different galaxies. Sadly, I know it is not our generation that will get the opportunity to see such splendor. :'(

A particle with mass cannot travel faster than the speed of light.
