Is it normal old school work ethics cause problems these days
I'm 50 years old and in my time people never got to work late, if they were they would be fired pretty quick. People stayed over sometimes to get work done [without pay if they had too], people attended all meetings, people went out of their way to climb the latter and make improvements at work.
These days people get to work one minute early, right on time or late. People will not do anything more than what their asked to do and whats within their job description. Nobody ever goes out of their way to make improvements, they just want to skate by unnoticed and get a check doing as little work as possible. If people go to meetings they are texting, playing games on their phone and/or having side line conversations. I even see a lot of people who might get to work 10-15 min early sitting out in their car instead of just coming into work. The worst part is all this is normal.
I come to work with my old school work ethic and actually got called out by the boss. Don't come to work so early, don't feel like you have to fix things or improve things around here... Once I stayed over 30minutes to fix something and was forced to take the time off the next day and actually almost got in trouble. Basically I was told to stop what they see as me "Over Doing It" and start slacking off more.
