Is it normal people add people they don't like on fb and why?

I'm just very curious as to why some people add people on Facebook that they don't even like. In my case I have a mate who added a manager from work just recently whom we both hate as she is evil and we both vent about how she treats us! It just annoyed me so much when I saw this! Do you do the same and if so, why!?

    I think the larger peice of poor decision making here was to allow a supervisor a window into her private life. The first time she calls out or takes some time for something personal and some idiot she is with tags her in a post or pic about it, she might regret that.
