Is it normal people are traumatized so easily these days?

I'm not talking about people with bad childhoods or anyone with bad experiences. I'm talking about drama queens who claim to be traumatized over nothing.

My friend said he's traumatized because he got suspended from a website after telling people to kill themselves. He says censorship is trauma.

Another friend of mine says I traumatized her because she asked me who Mangle was. I showed her a picture and apparently I'm to blame for her nightmares. She asked and I delivered. I am not taking blame for that.

Got a coworker that says I traumatized them because I was watching a nature documentary during my break. FFS, I was sitting in the back of the breakroom alone with earbuds on. He's at fault for looking over my shoulder when the owls were giving their babies mice. That moment when the owl parents were tending to their babies was beautiful

But yeah is it normal?

The term "traumatized" and subsequently "trauma" have been made less concrete thanks to overuse of the words. You'll find this to be true of a variety of other mental health issues as well. Bipolar depression, autism, tourette's, and social anxiety have also been victims of this.

Part of the issue is self diagnosis. (IE: "I have BPD but have never seen someone who can diagnose me with this.") The other half is found with people using the terms for non-medical purposes. (IE: "Stop being autistic.") The word traumatized has unfortunately met the same fate. It's meaning is longer synonymous with what it was 20 years ago.

The word racism has been degraded to mean just about nothing now. We need to teach the story of the boy who cried wolf more.

Tell them if they want to experience real trauma, take a trip to the Ukraine and experience what it's like to live in a war torn country.

Never show your friends this website, I fear it would be their final straw.

To an extent. I'd say it's not about an absolute but a comparative, though, and that people now seem more sensitive than they did. Is that also true between you and parents, parents and grandparents, grandparents and great-grandparents? Yes, it probably is, and thus it's normal. You're noticing it about others now, but others once noticed it about you.

The world wasn't always a certain way until you came along (and it then changed). It was always moving. You may have just noticed it, but it was always so.

Because people have been trained to have hardened skin.

Aparently I'm apart of the last generation of sticks and stones. Bullying was really just physical stuff. Being insulted isnt a good enough reason to cause trama. It sucks but at the end of the day it's still words. Mean words but just words.

    Well, it is your fault.

You weren't mindful of their feelings at all.

There are many people who need to use dictionaries instead of using words just because everyone else, and their dog think a word is trendy.
