Is it normal people dont understand that times change?

Why do people think the job opportunities in 1990 or 1980 are the same as the ones we have now? We are in the 2000s are people really that retarded? The utter lack of perspective people have is amazing. Generation X is a bunch of retards I swear.

It is pretty shit out there at the moment.

I've got shit loads of experience but i can't even land a shitty retail job that i did 10 years ago.

I'm stronger faster and wiser than i was ten years ago.

I still think that if someone wants to work they can.
There seem to be a lot of unqualified, inexperienced young people out there who just won't work at a job they feel is beneath them. Like they are too good to do some shitty job.
Unfortunately, if you have no skills to sell, then you can't expect some wonderful dream job.
For instance, there's some guy on here who has been trying to get a job in security for a couple of years, apparently without success. I'm guessing he's just not what the security agencies are looking for, but instead of moving on and finding a job, he comes back here, time after time, bemoaning the fact that even with all his classes and certifications, he still can't get hired as a security guard. I'm sure he could get a job as a janitor, digging ditches or some other menial job if he wanted, but no, he'd rather be unemployed and bitching than employed at something he feels is beneath him.

    • No, people work if they are hired. If they have no experience and live in a city that wants experience there is less chance of them getting hired.

We dont all get handed jobs on a plate like "Here you go". Company's dont care that people need jobs, they care about making money. So no matter how desperate you are, it does not matter.

Also saying "I got a job in 1990" has no relevance to if that job or company are still here today. This changed a lot since the 80/90s people just seem to understand. Things do not stand in place.

You want a job? So do 900 other people get in line. Also security is suppose to be one of the easier jobs to get. If you have a certification and everyone will swear how easy it is to get into security and if you cant with your guard card you are not trying. If you can not get into a simple job, why do you believe its easier to get into a harder one?

That's my whole point. If you don't have the chops to beat out 900 people for a job, then stop looking at work you aren't qualified for.
There are jobs out there, that's a fact. That you don't want to do that work or feel it's beneath you, well, that's not a problem with the employer.
Last time I went for a job (2010), there were 3 jobs in the nation I was qualified for, but I wasn't interested in 2 of them. I sent my resume to the one, along with a copy of my credentials.
Then I went online and found the boat I was applying to. I got in my car and drove 300 miles (one way) and found the boat. There were some folks working on her and I struck up a conversation, offering to help. One thing led to another and I got a boat ride to the drydock where the boat was to be prepared for the upcoming season.
Long story short, I beat out over 2500 other captains for the job I wanted, by making it happen. Not by sending out resumes and cover letters. Not by sitting around and waiting for them to contact me. I made them want ME for that job, by showing them that I'd drive 600 miles on a chance of even finding the boat, showing my knowledge when I did, and putting myself in exactly the right place at the right time. No luck or good fortune involved; just hard work and perseverance.
If you want to work, you can't tell me there aren't jobs out there which you CAN get, even if it isn't the job you envisioned yourself having.

        • Okay if you cant get jobs selling, flipping burgers, or security what do you expect people to get? Its even hard to get a job working at game stop. Are you saying begging on the street is better? Not a job you know. Nothing out there is easy to get, that is the problem. You really dont give anything constructive. You should try being a little more realistic. If the jobs that are suppose to be easy are hard to get that means you are jobless and homeless. Why are you telling people to be jobless? NOT A GOOD THING IDIOT!

There you go, expecting things to be EASY. Nobody owes you EASY! Nobody owes you anything.
That's your problem. You want everything to be EASY! Life ain't EASY, shithead, it's HARD!
You are obviously a lazy loser who expects things to just fall in your lap. It ain't gonna happen.
Get off IIN and go find a job; you won't find one on here. But before you do, reread my post. It doesn't say anything about begging or being a quitter. Quite the opposite. If you missed that, then perhaps that is your biggest problem, by far.

            • You are saying if you apply once and you cant get a job dont apply again. If you get rejected from even jobs that dont required college and just quit you dont get a job. So you are basically saying no one should get a job or work. Which means they are homeless/jobless. How exactly is saying "Just be jobless" is a good thing?
