Iin: priests renaming you!

I used to go to this christian church and some of the new people that would start attending they (adult/child) would get renamed by the pastor.

Like this new guy and his family started coming and at one service he announced that he had changed his name and even showed the page in the bible.

I thought it was dumb but is there other priests/churches that do this? I stopped going purely because he was preaching about other religions and how theyre worser than others. I think im the only one that thinks hes full of it

Is this normal?

    I'm christian. And never heard of this..
    What type of Christianity did you practice? Ex: Lutheran, catholic etc.

    Also a REAL christian doesn't put down any other type or race, religion or gender. So your church seems a little fucked up, sorry.

      I didnt stick around long enough to really know but they practically worship the guy here and back home in the islands. There are about 3 kids so far whose parents have named their kid after him. Alot of money is given towards the church including from my uncle nd his fams.

      Nah its all goods my dad says the same thing even though hes not a church-goer.

    Other religions are worse, plus the one you attended.
    Priests are not closer to a mythical god, they just think they are.

    He's just a dumb ass that gets his need for recognition satisfied from even dumber asses. This is fairly common in all religions, Islam included.
