Is it normal so many religious movies coming out?

I like to visit the cinema with my mates every week, it helps keep me current and gives me things to talk to my customers about besides sports. Anyway, I noticed whilst perusing this week's listings that there are quite a lot of movies with religious (read: Christianity) themes, such as: "Miracles from Heaven", "God's Not Dead 2" and "Risen".

What does this sudden influx of religious movies portend for our future? I thought Hollywood had little taste for religion.

So then, IIN? And please do leave a comment if you have thoughts on this matter.

There has always been very popular movies about God, spirituality and religion, remember Ben Hur, the 10 commandmants, that movie with George Burns as God, Bruce Almighty, etc., etc.,

I've noticed that too, I think it might be because of the decrease in believers, they know it's almost over.... religion will end >:D

It's because of the increasing amounts of atheists that the butthurt Christians are willing to pay tickets to get a good religious movie finally. Hollywood goes along with this because they know how many Christians there still are, who are desperate in trying to defend their religion. That of course leads to the producers of the movie getting rich as balls.

    Its unfortunate, but normal.

Cheap to make. Major profits. Easter time. Simple.

  • Well, we went to see "Eye in the Sky". Thought provoking with being terribly preachy about the politics of drone strikes.

Religious movies generally do very well at the box office and Hollywood isn't stupid. They go where the money is.
