Is it normal some people are such a pussy about walking anywhere?

I have several examples to give of this.

I have seen kids get on the bus only to get off at the next stop.

I have seen people get in their car to go across a parking lot.

I have heard several people describe 1 or 2 miles as "not walking distance"

I have a friend who always calls me for a ride to the store when it's a mile away. I never give him a ride and he will still not walk and not eat because he "couldn't get to the store"

That same friend wanted to go to the bar with me last week which is about 10 miles away. After we left I only had 2 beers but I told him I was to drunk to drive and we had to walk, to teach him a lesson about asking for rides.

The whole walk home he bitched about walking. He called everyone in his phone at 3am begging for rides and even stopped at friends houses on the way knocking on the door. He made the walk longer by taking detours.
The walk home did not bother me one bit. What do people think we did before we had cars?

Why walk if you have access to transport

Your buddy might enjoy a motorized wheelchair to get around the house.

I live in the desert, ain't no way I'm walking miles when it's 117° in July! I'll walk all day in the winter here, but it's very dangerous in the summer. I usually only workout outside in the early mornings and preferably not in summer.

I feel the same exact way and I am not even remotely close to being "in shape." I walk three miles to work everyday and my coworker lives a five minute walk away and she chooses to drive.

    Why?????

Maybe she has other things to do before work.

I must clarify, my apologies, she gets her mother or boyfriend, who also works with us, to give her a ride from home. Also, she is not in school at the moment and has no other jobs.

It gets very cold in the winter here in Ohio. My body does not retain heat very well because I'm tiny. I would much rather ride than walk in foul weather conditions. In the fall, spring or summer it can be quite nice though

Humans have grown lazy. This behaviour is a far cry from the past when our country used to be much more active.

lol 10 miles away? Who in their right mind wants to walk in the middle of the night for 3 hours? Yes, that's how long it would have taken you. So unless you're wrong with how many miles, I'd quit being an idiot.

Other than that huge psychotic burden you placed upon your friend, I do agree with you in the other areas.

    • It really wasn't that bad. It actually took about 5 hours because of all the detours he wanted to take to try to find a ride, which I just went along with because he was only making it harder on himself.

I used to walk this much all the time before I had a car. I would be fine without a car if I didn't have to go long distances or carry equipment everywhere.

The guy I made walk with me is always asking for rides to close by places. He doesn't have a job or income and sits at his parents house all day smoking drugs so its not like he had anywhere important to be in the morning.

I walk 35-40mins to one job in the morning cos it's easier than waiting for a bus that can be up to an hour late (when it's due every 15mins...)

I also catch the tram three stops to the shops/station/gym because it halves my journey time and as I work 11-13hr days (not including travel to and from) so my time is limited.

Unless you know the reasons for people choosing to take transport, then quit your judging and mind your own business.

Actually, why bother worrying about what someone does when it has absolutely zero affect on you?

    • It actually does effect me because people will constantly beg me for rides to close by places. I am bothered with phone calls in the middle on the night all the time from people who expect rides because I have my own car. The only time I will actually drive someone is if it is very important and far away but then some of them will expect ridiculous favors.

I usually know the reasons they do this and its usually because they complain so much about walking. The other day another friend described walking to his car from the back yard (about 100 feet) as "agonizing".

It also effects everyone because a lazy society will not thrive.
