Is it normal that activated charcoal makes me feel gross?

I took an activated charcoal tablet yesterday for period-related gas problems. It's something pharmacists around here recommend.

The thing is, once the pill has reached the problem area and starts doing its job, it makes my insides feel uncomfortable. Like, heavy. Like there's something there that isn't normal. It has happened every time I have used activated charcoal tablets.

Does anyone else get a weird feeling in their gut when they use activated charcoal tablets?

Its charcoal, its inedible. Suppose it's normal as you are essentially using activated charcoal to filter or contain some compounds.

Honesty I wouldnt use activated charcoal unless I ate something poisonous and couldn't (or shouldn't) vomit it out.

Iirc activated charcoal makes you throw up or slow down whatever you're eating or drinking

    • It makes you throw up when taken as a drink, probably. But this was a small amount in tablet form.

Do you regularly consume actual poison?

Not "toxins" as alot of naturalistic supplements say. I dont get why people consume an actual medicinal product for the wrong reasons.

Its charcoal. Probably wont help with period stuff. Charcoal really only helps with managing a poisoning. This isnt the 15th century

        • When 'period stuff' involves letting out a non-stop succession of pretty beastly farts, then yes, charcoal does help.

Then dont complain that its side effects make you feel gross. Those side effects have been known for a millenia.

            • So it is normal, then? That's all I had wanted to know.
