Is it normal that crop tops offend people at work?

We work retail and every time a new, younger chick wears a crop top, the fat, older women get all pissy and talk shit about that chick behind her back. Sometimes they'll complain to the higher ups. I really don't get the point in doing so. Is it really that hard to be skinny in your 30's to the point where you slack off at work and gossip about younger chicks? Is it normal?

women who wear crop tops are the same women who'll bitch at you for looking. as if they didn't intentionally choose that top for attention

I'm curious what type of retail - is it a clothing store? I could see someone who works at Forever 21 wearing a crop top. But not Macy's. I highly doubt crop tops are acceptable in most workplaces.

As for others b*tching, that will happen over anything. Crop tops, hair style, the type of phone you have, literally anything. It's normal, although it's annoying.

It depends a lot on what kind of retail on whether its appropriate or not.

Working a beach shop selling beachwear and souvenirs its appropriate. Not appropriate if working a high end jewelry store.

Assuming that the store you work in caters to younger ladies with merchandise where its appropriate... There's always someone who will complain about anything.

And Ladies gossiping is fairly common (which is probably an understatement).

I’d understand if it was a top you sold at the retail store. But otherwise no, it’s unprofessional as fuck.

As someone who works in the food industry, I refuse to wear plugs that aren’t solid. It grosses some people out and I want to appeal to everyone. It’s my job.
