Is it normal that i absolutely hate the word "folks"

Pretty much self explanatory. I hate when people use "folks" as a general term to refer to people, etc. I don't understand why the word is so common still in everyday use since it just seems so outdated and cheesy to me. Whenever I hear someone say it in conversation, on tv, in a video, or even just written down it really bugs me. It's a small thing so it's not like I have a meltdown over it or anything, just minor annoyance.
But still, there are so so so many other synonyms that could be used! Guys, people, friends, or even "ladies and gentlemen" if you're trying to be fancy. Plus many more. Basically there's no reason for this awful term to still be in use is what I'm saying.
Am I the only one who feels this way?

Reminds me of a word commonly percieved as gross..."moist". I have no issue with the word. "Surgical dressing" gives me the heebie jeebies. The word epic annoys me most times.

So that would be yes on both? I feel good for you that can have such little things bother you imagine how bad it would be if you folks had a real problem.

I too hate the word FOLKS!!! It's increasing in usage and I don't understand why journalists, tv people, radio people, keep using it! They are Lazy word users, ever hear of a thesaurus or dictionary?!? Better words such as men, women, people, persons, shoppers, readers, workers, students, teachers, children, moms, dads, voters, I could go on and on! I don't want to be lumped together in one big pile of FOLKS! Let's end the madness, try and stretch your vocabulary muscle and come up with a better word than folks !!!!!

How funny - I thought I was the only one who found the term "folks" annoying! I can't even put a finger on what it is I don't like about the word, but it generally provokes some small feeling of annoyance in me when people use this word around me.

My yr6 teacher always said folks instead of children or kids. I found it so annoying. Thats must be why I never liked him.

I suddenly have an urge to say folks a lot more and broadcast it when I do. Ironically I voted that you were normal, but I still wanna shout out FOLKS!
