Is it normal that i am afraid of fish, the ocean, and everything under water?

Is it normal i am deathly afraid of fish...even goldfish. I cant swim in the ocean, lake, or sometime even pools. I cannot be on boats or go inter tubing. My biggest fear is whales or dolphins. I'm convinced they eat people and drag them off into the ocean. I cant even see videos of them or movies without having a panic attack and not being able to breath. One time i went in a lake and i almost drown because i though there were fish trying to eat me and chase me. I cant stand to think about sunken ships or even watch the titanic because if something were to touch my feet while swimming id pass out from panicking. Sunken ships, big animal and fish, moss, big rocks and all that underwater, i cant handle. Is this normal? because i feel like its not.

It sounds like you have a major phobia, see a therapist or psychologist about it.

  • Whatever you do, don't think about the ocean and all the titanic whales, fish, and swimming knives lurking underneath it's waves.

And yes normal. I dread the sea as well.

It's not normal but I understand your fear because that's almost like what I feel about butterflies and moths.

I have had the same phobia of fish as long as I can remember. I have worked on it, and I can even now walk down the fish aisle in a pet store and sit facing an aquarium in a restaurant. However, if I ever see a dead fish, I FREAK OUT!!!

    Best Wishes for avoiding Fishes!!!

I'm the same way. I can't even look at pictures of sharks or whales underwater without shivering.

    You have:

Thalassophobia (Fear of Oceans/Lakes/Large Bodies of Water)
    &
Ichthyophobia (Fear of fish & other sea creatures)

Talk to a psychiatrist or a doctor about these fears.
