Is it normal that i am interested in long haul trucks, and trucking in general?

This has been nagging me at the back of my head for months. I am a sort-of normal 19 year old guy with Aspergers. I lead as much of a normal life as possible (I go to college, don't do drugs, don't drink etc.) But here's the thing:

The game I play most right now, and have been for months, is Euro Truck Simulator 2. An ultra-realistic trucking game. In it, the player can drive trucks all over Europe, following traffic laws etc. I've told like one person that I play this game and really enjoy it. I also look up the trucks in the game and read about them, watch videos about them and so on. Is it considered weird or peculiar or whatever for a guy like me to like this sort of thing?

    Sure. It's a hobby.

    Actually, a lot of people with Asperger's become fixated upon certain, very specific hobbies. Obsessive even. Usually they learn as much as possible about a certain thing, even if they don't actually have much interest in participating in the activity they are learning about. So it might be related to your condition.

    It may well simply be an ordinary hobby though - everyone has them.

      I was just going to post the same thing.

      I have Asperger's myself and I have always been fixated on one thing or another. In fact, becoming fixated on specific topics is so common amongst people with Asperger's that it's even part of the diagnostic criteria!

      It's also very common for people with AS - especially guys - to become fixated on modes of transportation such as trains, planes and automobiles of all kinds, including trucks!

    I see no problem here. I just went to youtube for a jake brake fix. Ahhhhh I looovvvveeeeeee that sound good grief. It makes me smile. Is THAT normal??

    Here I thought I was the only one. So this is what it's like when doves cry.

    Long haul trucks are fucking awesome, but I can't drive them there's something wrong with my brain I think, I can't drive a stick, I stall to much, and I have poor spacial awareness.

    You need to begin by hanging around truck stops. If you see one idling, jump in and take off. look at the manifest and deliver the load. If you can't get cash payment tell them you're going to the bathroom, crawl out the window, go to the bus station and evaluate your experience on the way home. Who knows, maybe you could just find a truck bound for home even?

    If you feel that you had a good time once you're home, you should go to truck school.

    Totally normal, everyone has their interests and this is just one of yours. Sounds like a fun game, I love simulator games, I'm hooked on the Sims 3 right now haha.
