Is it normal that i as a christian feel weird saying "thankful" over "lucky"?

If I'm happy about something, or something good happens to someone, I want to say "I'm thankful that...", or "Thankfully (whatever happened/happens)...", but I'm afraid it will look weird to non-Christian friends/others. So, I've found myself saying "That was lucky", or "Hopefully I'll get lucky with (whatever I want to happen)..." or, "Luckily (this).." Should I feel like I'm denying Jesus and God in an attempt to seem not overly "religious"?

No, I've turned into a pretty shoddy Christian lol. I stopped worrying about the details several years ago. All that should matter is that Jesus loves you; who cares what other Christians think about you? We're a pretty argumentative bunch anyhow.

I've actually been embarrassed to say I'm a Christian because of all of the anti-gay hate coming from them lately. I refuse to be associated with that bigotry.

Don't worry about it. We are lucky to have a great God, so you can be thankful and lucky at the same time.

A person can be thankful without being thankful to a god, and I don't think most people assume that is what you mean when you say it. I feel like you are confusing the term "thankful" with the term "blessed".

I'm pretty sure that "thankfully" used in that context is about gratitude in general. You don't need to feel weird about it.

You should just say what comes naturally to you :) and I'm saying that as an atheist, but I should warn you there might be the occasional time where it might offend or annoy

I've only ever once been offended by someone's religious terminology, I was with a few people, we were passing round a guitar and drinking but no one really knew how to play it, it came to me and I played hello I'm in Delaware by city and colour and once I finished this one guy told me that musical ability was god given and I should be thankful, that really pissed me off, I couldn't help it but I told him that me putting a lot of effort, hard work, sore fingers and sleepless nights is what gave it to me

So if there's a situation for example like that or someone graduating that involves hard work from the person they may get a little bit irked at being told they should be thankful or that you're thankful to god for their accomplishment

Luck is simply a perfect combination of favorable circumstances
