Is it normal that i believed in santa claus until i was 11 years old?

For some reason, I strongly believed in Santa until I was around 11. Is that weird or not? Maybe it has something to do with my autism, because my autistic friend believed in Santa until he was 12, he says.

Santa Claus actually is real. He is a mythologized version of Saint Nicholas from the 4th century, a christian bishop who lived in Turkey and is known for heroic acts of courage to save children and families.

It’s cute that kids believe in Santa no matter what age. So if you encourage them, you believe too. My grandson is 6, and I hope he believes for a few more years. His excitement at Christmas is precious.

I used to know this guy who believed in Santa and was in his 20's. He was kind of an edgy atheist type that repeatedly mocked religious belief as being irrational fairy tales and later went on to join the Satanic Church, but he would die on a hill defending Santa.

    • Ok, sounds boring tbh. Believing in Santa made Christmas so much more fun.

Yeah it's normal, it's all a matter of time before children snap out of it.

Are you trying to make out Santa isn’t real??? Then who the hell delivered all those presents a couple of nights ago?????

I think I was around that age. It think has a lot to do with your social group and whether you’re religious. If your friends believe you are likely to as well. We all stopped believing in the Tooth Fairy and Easter Bunny a couple years before Santa. I remember sitting around the lunch table at junior high and the kids would be like, “Nah, I stopped believing in those along time ago. But Santa is different. He’s definitely real.” Santa has religious ties to St. Nicholas and such, which the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy don’t. Growing up in a Catholic school, Santa just seemed more legit almost like a religious figure.

I knew a man who claimed to believe in Santa, as far as I know, his whole life (like into his 70s). He was very eccentric but believed in a lot of strange magical and religious things. He didn’t necessarily believe Santa was flying around in a sleigh with reindeer, but he believed that there were these documented instances and stories where poor children had woken up to find Christmas presents and there was no way their parents could have possibly afforded them. So yeah, he basically believed there was some sort of gift giving spirit out there that science couldn’t explain.
