Is it normal that i bite sponges when i'm feeling stressed or anxious?

I suffer from anxiety and whenever I am feeling anxious or panic over something I always feel the need to bite a sponge, preferably one soaked in water.. I'm being genuinely serious and I've been doing this ever since I was a child. IIN?

Well, I wouldn't say it's exactly normal but as long as it truly helps you and it's clean, why not?

That's a perfect stress relieving technique.

Is it a synthetic sponge or natural sponge. I don't think there's any significance to my question except that I'm just curious. I only use sponges in the bath but I prefer natural ones!

Synthetic bath poufs on the other hand I find wonderful because they make great lather.

I can't imagine it being dangerous as long as it's not a used sponge. However when I read this it made me grit my teeth because the sound it must make would make me cringe

Please tell me it's a clean sponge from your own personal arsenal of unused sponges...

There are certainly worse ways to deal with stress, but if you find that this is a problem, I'd talk to a therapist
