Is it normal that i can't mentally picture world war 1 in color?

It seems strange to me that after watching the old black and white footage of the first war I can't force myself to picture it in color. Is this normal?

      I guess our minds have been so deeply programmed from the footage we've seen in history class and on the history channel that it's hard to see anything other than what we have been taught it should look like.
