Is it normal that i can't stand black borders on the top and bottom of the screen?
When a film's aspect ratio is 21:9 as opposed to 16:9, and so there's black borders on the top/bottom of the screen to fill in the space on a 16:9 TV, I hate it! I can't stand it. Does everyone else feel like this or am I the only one?
The reason I'm asking is because services like Netflix don't offer you the ability to stretch the image to fill a 16:9 TV, and you'd think they would if everyone hated the black borders. That's one of the main reasons I don't use Netflix anymore.
It's also the main reason why I love VLC Media Player, because they do allow you to stretch the image. My TV doesn't even allow it (at least with video coming in from a HDMI cable, it does with an AV cable), and it's also gonna be one of the main features I'll be looking out for when I'm buying my next TV.
I realise that stretching the image to fit the screen will slightly distort the image, but it's barely noticeable and it's far better than having the black borders.
So I'm just asking because I just wanted to know if it's a technical difficulty for these companies to allow that option, or if all these companies are just ignoring us, or if there just aren't much people who care about it.

I prefer the original undistorted ratio even with the borders | 2 | |
