Is it normal that i can't stand people with intellectual disabilities?

People with intellectual disabilities drive me nuts! It's incredibly hard, if not outright impossible to hold a civilized conversation with those people. A girl I dated 2 years ago had a mild intellectual disability. She always spoke so loud and said embarassing things when we were in public. I can't really say that was a pleasant experience! 4 To 5 years ago, I was close friends with a guy who had something similar, a mild form of retardation. It was the exact same thing with him. Speaking loudly, saying inappropriate things in public, no creativity.

My teachers always paired me up with the slower students. Mainly because theh knew I didnt pick on them. Since in elementary school i was in special ed but I wasnt intellectually disabled. So I had sympathy for those who were actually disabled.

That being said I feel pity for those with intellectually deficient dependents that require a lot of attention/worring.

I'm as nice to them though personally their exsistence makes me queasy. It's not their fault.

As someone with multiple brothers with Down Syndrome, I find that incredibly rude.

I don't have much patience for people with quite a bit of intellectual disabilities. Or children. But children are dumb. I try to avoid them all. Yes, I know I'm an asshole.

  • Why are you talking to people with intellectual disabilities?
It can be quite frustrating for sure but it depends on the level of intellectual disability as well. I wonder what it takes to count as intellectually disabled? When hearing the term I think of people with Downs Syndrome and they tend to be pretty obviously disabled and acts like children.

We are naturally and healthily attracted to those who are most like us, if someone is too smart, too dumb, too emotional, too frigid, etc, we don't sync with them.

That’s pretty intolerant of you. And what’s this about creativity? Pretty sure Warhol had the same iq as a glass of water.

I have a problem with people with emotional regulation abilities. They're usually poisonous. Intellectual disabilities are nothing in comparison.

I was the kid in class that asked the teacher questions and when she said something halfway complicated she would turn to look at me before proceeding. I would give her a head nod and she would continue 😂. But I did pass the GED test which is an 8 hour test with geometry and history and the highschool level stuff.
