Is it normal that i cannot pay attention when someone talks for a long time?

It's something I've been trying to work on lately. I know it's normal to zone out sometimes, but I am especially bad about this. I usually get by from asking others when the teacher/boss is done talking or reading the directions or figuring it out on my own through context. This way I've adapted to it, and it's given me skills that are great for learning new languages and being adaptable to new environments.
However, I know in a future career it will tremendously help me to be a better listener. It is honestly super challenging for me to pay attention to spoken instructions, especially something with a lot of details. I don't think I have Attention Deficit Disorder, because I feel like that would have been diagnosed when I was a kid, but whether it's something with a medical term or just a personality quirk, I'd really like to improve on it. Any advice on how to work on this? Thanks so much.

See? You're learning, you paid attention. Good puppy.

Now, next time I'll write something a little longer and the questions at the end won't be multiple guess, they will be in the essay format. Fear not, young penis, we'll have you acting like a grown up in no time.
