The title says it all- I am a straight male that carries a tampon around with me because of its absorbent qualities. If I or someone were to be cut badly, I like having a good response for it. Sure, I would get a few weird looks I'm sure, but I've heard stories of tampons saving lives. Am I REALLY that weird for making sure that I have one around most of the time?

We were told at a first aid course that tampons are perfect for applying pressure to bullet wounds.

Idk how carrying a tampon around would make you gay (because even the GAYEST of gay men don't get periods lol) but I wouldn't consider it normal.... But hey, it could come in handy so keep it up
Tampons work quite well for nose bleeds, at least according to Beavis and Butthead.
Maxi pads started as bandages during WWI. they were so good as soaking up blood, women decided to use them for menstruation.
I'm not sure when tampons became popular.
But....why are you so afraid of someone getting injured around you?
I'm not "so afraid"/terrified- I just like to be prepared. It's the same reason anyone has a first-aid kid in their car. You never know what's going to happen.

There is a difference between being prepared and being odd for the sake of being odd. Why are you trying so hard to be "different". If you want to be helpful in an emergency, carry an actual first aid kit and learn CPR.
What absorption is it? Plastic, cardboard or no applicator? Name brand or generic? Scented or unscented? New or used?
I said no, not normal, because of the reason. But if you carried one for the sake of a female friend, relative, coworker, etc. needing one at their time of the month, I would think that to be thoughtful/considerate of the opposite sex and that seems to me like a "more normal reason" ??
I've heard they can be used with some success to dress bullet wounds. So if you have reason to think you or someone near you might get shot it's not an unreasonable thing to carry. Otherwise, not so much.
There are many other things than tampons which have good absorbent qualities. And you can't walk around thinking 'what if' and carrying a load of products to combat those situations if you got into them all the time.
