Is it normal that i copy statistics down?

Like if I'm playing a Madden game, I sometimes copy each team's statistics down and rank them. I also do this with any kind of sports related video games. Is this normal?

    download them and cross-reference it with other available data to verify accuracy.

    it's perfectly normal. more than 20% of literate do it. more than 75% of people with PhD do it.

    I do the same with census data, and also with disease outbreaks and fatalities. Not only can it help my research, it's fun too.
