Is it normal that i'd rather travel 2 hours to work in a better area?

Is it normal that I would rather travel for 2 hours to work somewhere that is a nicer area - than somewhere nearer but not as nice?

I couldn't care less about the neighborhood I work in, it's the neighborhood I LIVE in that would matter most to me.
Actually, since I've worked on boats all my life, the waterfront has been the neighborhood I worked in, quite often the shit hole part of town. Since I also lived aboard many of those same boats, I guess I often lived in the same shit hole. Oh well.

Define "nice area" and "not as nice".

I know they're very vague descriptions but it's subjective. What I meant specifically was Central London instead of the beat-up area I live in.

Are we talking Westminster or Islington... more or less posh than those?

    Depends on the pay.

The pay would be the same... but the travel would cost more further away.

Hmm... what kinda shape is your car in right now? I also can't help, but to assume you're solitary, because if you have a spouse, children or even a pet I think it would be an enormous waste of time that could be spent with your loved ones or resting.

I wouldn't be interested for the most part, because it seems like such a waste of time and resources. My cat would not be a happy camper if I wasted time that we could spend together. For me it would be selfish and irresponsible, because of my cat, family, friends and a young man I started dating.
